MNSpin presents a free concert with Haphduzn

Wednesday, October 10, 6p, Nicollet Theater in the Round

Haphduzn is a Minnesota native who grew up in the heart of south Minneapolis. A third-generation musician, he was influenced by his grandmother’s gospel/soul/jazz roots, his father’s love of classic rock and funk, and his librarian mother’s passion for the written word. Haphduzn began rapping, freestyling, and battling in high school and built a reputation as one of the best in the city. His 2013 debut was selected for inclusion in MN Spin. Haphduzn has played Soundset and First Avenue, and backed up Atmosphere and Brother Ali at gigs in California and Texas. The Nicollet Theater in the Round is your downtown urban amphitheater located street-side on Nicollet, next to the Minneapolis Central Library.

ARTCRANK annual bike-inspired poster exhibition and sale

Saturday, October 13, 4-10 pm, IDS Center Crystal Court

ARTCRANK’s 2018 Minneapolis show will take place on Saturday, October 13 at the IDS Center Crystal Court. Staging a show in one of the most iconic buildings in Minneapolis is a far cry from the show’s DIY bike shop roots, but one thing remains the same: Affordable, bike-inspired poster art created by local artists. This year’s edition of ARTCRANK features new bike-inspired posters created by more than 40 artists from around the Twin Cities. The artist roster is a near 50/50 split between first-time participants and returning artists, including perennial favorites Adam Turman, Amy Jo, Ellen Schofield, and Allan Peters. Fulton Beer will be on site with a selection of craft beer, and free valet bike parking will be available.

Downtown Farmers Market

The beloved Minneapolis Farmers Market is back on Nicollet every week throughout the 2018 growing season.

Nicollet Lighting

The Nicollet lighting system, including the Light Walk, Nicollet Lanterns and street light beacons, is a key architectural and experiential element of the new Nicollet. The Light Walk and Nicollet Lanterns bring light, color and movement into Nicollet Center, the busiest and most urban area of downtown.

The DID routinely programs this system to support activation and operations on Nicollet. Check out our Lighting Events Calendar to find out which events are supported by our lighting system. If you are interested in requesting a lighting scene on Nicollet for a civic celebration or event, please refer to our guidelines.

Along with these events, watch for more routine activities coming to Nicollet in 2018, including the Nicollet Makers Market, Street Show performances, the Hennepin County mobile bike library, and more.
